Graenet, a computer consultancy based in Sydney Australia, was established in 1998 and directly services the computer support needs of a variety of educational, professional and non-government organisations, as well as IT support professionals who require commercially escalatable support for their SME servers.

Recognising that clients needed an inexpensive secure network with a high standard of reliability and flexibility Graenet began working with Linux. SME Server is an extremely powerful yet easy to use and configure repackaged version of Redhat Linux that Graenet settled on and has worked with ever since. With most of the core server code built on the General Public Licence, the Open Source basis for SME server has ensured its continued existence and it continues to enjoy a thriving community of contributors world-wide.
